Welcome to the IBM Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the IBM Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

For more information and upcoming events, please visit our IBM Connections page.

Way to disable Desktop Plugin blank popup

CUSTOMER REPORT:

We have a problem with the desktop plugin, if the user is offline and starts the computer, a popup will open for the webform based login, with the info that the page can not be loaded.
Can this popup be disabled? Or automatically close directly with a registry entry for example?

The popup happens for every user. If a user in the customer internal infrastructure, it goes away without error message because it is a web based auth with ADFS.

If a user is external and must start the vpn, then the popup goes away, because the desktop plugins start again an auth against the adfs . The customer wants that the end user does not see any message.

A Support Case was opened and sent to L3. The Plugins Development team provided the following feedback:

==============================================

"This will need to be reopened as an enhancement request.

The current architecture of the web forms auth is that the plugin opens the browser window to handle the auth process.  The plugin does not participate in the auth process, it merely examines the cookies returned to determine when the login is complete, or checks for the browser window closing.

The window pops up on startup because of either the sync monitoring process starting or the main process querying the server for config changes.

We'd have to investigate to see if there's anything we could do to examine the auth flows in the browser looking for errors.  I'm not sure if there's an acceptable way to handle this, but it's outside the scope of a bug report.
