HCL Connections Ideas Portal

Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Wiki Page Image Issue for Copied Wiki Page

Short Description
  1. I created a wiki page in Community A called IBM Connections Learning Center . The title I believe is unimportant.
  2. I then worked through the content and images of the page over a while. I was treating this as a draft version of the wiki page
  3. When I was done, I copied the page from the wiki in Community A to the wiki in Community B. It is still called IBM Connections Learning Center
  4. All was good and the text and images copied over without any issues.
  5. If I delete the draft page from the wiki in Community A, ALL of the images on the wiki page in Community B are lost and display like image boxes.
  6. If I restore the deleted page in the wiki in Community A, All of the images on the wiki page in Community B are back and fine.

  7. I think what is happening is the first version, in Community A, is being considered as the master. The image ID and outer HTML source are identical for the image in Community A and Community B. As soon as the master is deleted, anywhere it is used will lose the image(s). The system is not able to identify the different places the image could be in use aside from the original master.

I believe this is an issue for a couple of reasons:
    1. We have endorsed the idea of creating draft wiki pages in sub-communities, review as the owners would like, then publish to the prod parent community when ready. This issue would force the community and content owners to always keep the drafts unless there are no images.
    2. If I m copying a wiki page and content (with images) from one community to another, I can use that content in the new wiki page or the Rich Content App. I would not want to have actions by the source community impact the behavior of mine. This only impacts the images of what I ve copied as the text is retained in the copied content.
    3. I believe the workaround is to have each image in a document saved to an images folder of the community. This would be a total pain and unworkable for the content creators. They want to copy/paste an image and don t want to have to remember or know the source.

We need a feature to be able to move wiki pages. This is an expected behavior right now because the images are located in the first original page. When you copy the page you do not copy the images to the new one.
