Welcome to the HCL Connections Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by the HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

It is shocking to me that this even has to be an issue.  The decision to make the default search scope be "All Contents" was a really bad one.  It should have never been changed in the first place.  The search should have been changed back months ago - as soon as the first people complained.  Is there any accountability for the group that is NOT making the decision to change this back to sane behavior?  PLEASE!  Will someone be a "wild duck" and just change this back to the way it's supposed to be?!

Yes, please change the search default to the current wiki/community.  It will save me so much time and frustration as I constantly forget to click This Wiki / This Community as it does not appear until it you start typing.

I am a strong supporter of this suggestion.  Minimally, please allow me to change the default for my own profile.  Almost 100% of the time, I'm trying to search for something in the Community/Wiki/Forum that I'm in.  And too often, I type my search string and hit enter, effectively searching the entire Connections universe for something I'm looking for in a specific place. (and I cannot change the search scope until AFTER I start typing, so I can never just type my string and hit enter)

Yes, it is more logical t make the 'default' search where you are in.... I voted too.

I very strongly support this requirement. Search in Connections went from being 'okay' to being useless; it is now more difficult to find information. Whatever the rationale was for this design change, it is misguided. At least make it a configurable option, since the new serach scope is so contrary to what most users want. Also, can we please replace the very subtle sliding magnifying glass control with a more discoverable Search icon? There is so much wasted space on a typical Forum  or Wiki page, yet an essential control is given a space-saving design that tends to just conceal it.

Yes, please!  This default changed sometime last year.  Not just the search for communities, but also wikis.  If I'm on my wiki and I want to search for a particular page, I only want to search the wiki I'm on.  Now, if I don't happen to click "My wiki" it searches ALL content and gives me a bunch of ridiculous matches.  Extremely annoying.  Please, please, please change this back to the way it was.  Many people will appreciate it.

i wholeheartedly support his idea.  when you are in a Community you are focused on that Community - any Search should match that focus and default to "this Community", you can always broaden your focus to All Contents if you do not find what you're looking for.  i would be willing to bet 90% of more of searches are focused on the current Community content.  having to change the default almost all the time mean the default should change.
